When volume and reach matter, nothing beats a truck-mounted boom pump. The boom folds out over houses, fences, scaffolding and site sheds to place concrete precisely — at output rates that keep a full line of agitator trucks turning over without a queue forming at the gate.
Why builders book a boom
A boom pump is a concrete placing crane: the truck parks once, the boom unfolds, and the operator places concrete anywhere within its radius using remote control. There's no line to move mid-pour, no re-setting between sections, and the output rate is far beyond what any line pump can sustain. On a big slab that translates directly into fewer hours on the clock — for the pump, your concreters and your concrete supplier.
MetroFlow's boom operators are the calm centre of pour day. They sequence agitator trucks so there's always concrete at the hopper but never a queue racking up waiting time, they work the boom in smooth passes that match your screeding pattern, and they communicate — with the batcher, with your foreman, with whoever needs to know what's happening next.
We regularly boom-pump multi-unit developments, warehouse floors, suspended slabs, tilt-panel footings and large house slabs across Melbourne and regional Victoria. Whatever the program looks like, we'll slot in and keep it moving.
Access planning — the part that makes or breaks a boom job
A boom truck needs room: space to park, width to spread outriggers, and clear air to unfold the boom. Overhead powerlines, tree canopies, soft ground and steep crossovers all affect where we can set up. That's why we check access before every boom job — with photos, satellite view, or a drive-past for anything unusual — instead of discovering a problem at 6am with four agitators booked.
If your site is marginal for a boom, we'll tell you early and price the line pump alternative so you can compare. Our job is to get concrete into your forms at the lowest all-in cost, not to send the biggest truck we own.

Boom Pump Hire FAQs
What reach do your boom pumps have?
We arrange booms to suit the job — from compact city-friendly units up to large-reach booms for wide slabs and multi-level work. Tell us the furthest point from where the truck can park, and we'll match the unit to it.
How much space does a boom pump need to set up?
As a rule of thumb: a truck-length of parking plus room to extend outriggers either side, on firm ground, with no powerlines overhead. Our boom access requirements blog post covers it in detail, and we always confirm before booking.
Can you pump near powerlines?
Only outside the no-go zones set by Energy Safe Victoria. If lines are close we'll plan the set-up around them, arrange a spotter where required, or recommend a line pump instead.
Do you do night pours and early starts?
Yes. Commercial programs often need 4am starts or after-hours pours for traffic management — we schedule around your permit conditions.
