Residential Slabs

House slabs placed clean, on program

The slab sets the tone for the whole build. MetroFlow pumps house slabs, waffle pods, raft slabs, extensions, garages and shed bases across Melbourne and Victoria — working in with your concreter and supplier so pour morning runs like clockwork.

Slab day, done properly

A residential slab pour is a three-way dance between the concrete supplier, the pump and the finishing crew. When any one of them is out of step, everyone pays — waiting time on trucks, cold joints in the slab, finishers working concrete that's gone off. Our job is to make sure the pump is never the weak link: we arrive before the first truck, prime and test, and pump at exactly the rate your screeders want.

We pump every type of residential slab system used in Victoria — conventional raft slabs, waffle pod slabs, infill slabs between boundary walls, garage and shed slabs, and structural toppings on extensions. Pod slabs in particular reward an experienced operator: concrete has to flow into ribs without displacing pods, and the feed rate has to track the crew around the slab.

Whether your block is a flat 400m² lot in a new estate or a sloping infill site with the house at the back, we'll bring the right pump — boom for open access and volume, line pump for tight blocks — and get concrete to the far corner without a single barrow.

For owner-builders and first-timers

Plenty of our slab clients have never booked a concrete pump before. It's simple: once your concreter gives you a pour date and volume, call us or send the quote form. We'll confirm the right pump for the access, give you an all-in price, and coordinate timing with your concreter directly if you want us to. On the day, we handle everything pump-related — you just watch your slab go down.

How it works

01

Book the date

Lock in your pour date with volume, mix and site address — 3–5 days ahead is ideal.

02

Access confirmation

We confirm pump position and line route (or boom reach) so pour morning has zero unknowns.

03

Pour morning

Set up before the first agitator, pump at the crew's pace, keep the pour continuous — no cold joints.

04

Clean exit

Contained wash-out and a tidy site so your concreters can cut joints and cure without obstacles.

Residential Slabs FAQs

How much does it cost to pump a house slab?

Most Melbourne house slabs land in a predictable range depending on volume and access — see our blog post on concrete pump hire costs for a full breakdown. Send us your slab size and suburb for an exact all-in number.

My block has no side access at all. Can you still pump the slab?

Almost certainly. Line pumps exist for exactly this — we run pipeline over or around obstacles from the street. Sites where we genuinely can't get concrete in are extremely rare.

Do you work with my concreter or do I need to coordinate?

Either. Most clients hand us their concreter's number and we sort timing between us. You'll get a confirmation the day before regardless.

What happens if it rains on pour day?

Your concreter makes the call on whether the pour goes ahead. If it's postponed, tell us as early as you can — we reschedule without penalty with reasonable notice.
